Paranoia and Avoidance
Concept:
It makes
people stubborn and unreasonable, refuse to accept rational advice, escape from
reality, and live in a small world of their own construction.
The paranoid
spirit controls people to do things that are willful or unexpected, and even
develops paranoia, general distrust and suspicion of others, interpreting their
motives as malicious. Without sufficient basis, they suspect that others are
exploiting, hurting, or deceiving them; they always bear a grudge against the
insults or harms of others and are unwilling to forgive them.
It manifests
as:
Pervasive
distrust and suspicion of others, interpreting their motives as malicious and
reacting quickly with anger or retaliating; having no close or intimate
friends, displaying emotional apathy or flat emotions; social and interpersonal
deficits, feeling very uncomfortable with friends and family, having little
affection, and also having distortions of cognition or perception and erratic
behavior; consistent disregard for or violation of the rights of others and
failure to abide by social norms regarding legal conduct, etc.
Causes of
paranoia, escape from the dark forces:
1. Fear of
possible harm, suspicious of everyone and everything
- Being defensive toward others
is not necessarily a bad thing, as the Bible says:
Behold, I
send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as
serpents and harmless as doves. (Matthew 10:16)
The simple
believes every word, but the prudent considers well his steps. (Proverbs 14:15)
- Forgotten that God is in
control and everything is in His hands
There are
many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will
stand. (Proverbs 19:21)
So we may
boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Hebrews
13:6)
He will not
be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
(Psalm 112:7)
- He only sees others' tendency
to hurt him, but forgets that he also hurts others.
And why do
you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in
your own eye? (Matthew 7:3)
- No power to love
There is no
fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment.
But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18)
Love suffers
long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not
parade itself, is not [a]puffed
up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek
its own, is not provoked, [b]thinks no
evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity,
but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things,
believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (1 Corinthians
13:4-7)
- To attack someone first, to
attack them proactively;
Do not strive
with a man without cause, If he has done you no harm. (Proverbs 3:30)
Do not be a
witness against your neighbor without cause,[a]For would you
deceive with your lips? (Proverbs 24:28)
22 But I say to
you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be
in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall
be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in
danger of hell fire. (Matthew 5:22)
2. The lonely
type, due to inner shame and inferiority
- Preferring to be alone is not
necessarily a problem. Some people have a wider social circle, while
others have a narrower one. We cannot set a rigid standard, and God can
use people with different personalities.
The two boys
grew up, and Esau was a skilled hunter, a man of the field; but Jacob was a
quiet man, a man who lived in tents. (Genesis 25:27)
- Those who are isolated from
the crowd are angry at others or at the truth;
A man who
isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment.
(Proverbs 18:1)
- He only cares about his own
feelings and forgets that others also need his care.
According to
biblical principles, we
should do things that are inconvenient and uncomfortable in order to love
others:
Let each of
you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests
of others. (Philippians 2:4)
does not
behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no
evil; (1 Corinthians 13:5)
- However, the Bible instructs
believers to love one another, so it is inevitable that they should
interact with one another:
And above all
things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude
of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.
(1 Peter 4:8-9)
If therefore
there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship
of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion,
3. Schizoid,
because the mind and thoughts have not been enlightened by the truth
There are
distortions in cognition or perception and erratic behavior.
What are
cognitive errors and erratic behavior?
If the
so-called "weird behavior" is because this person is an artist, a
person with advanced thinking, or as the saying goes: there is a fine line
between genius and idiocy, then there is nothing wrong with it. As long as his
"misconception" does not violate the truth of the Bible and his
"weird behavior" does not violate the moral laws of the Bible, it
should be acceptable.
Such
"weirdness" includes "unusual hallucination experiences, body
illusions, magical thinking", so we must distinguish whether it is: a
supernatural experience or harassment by evil spirits?
As for
"magical thinking", Christians cannot help but think of what is
strictly prohibited in Deuteronomy 18:9-11.
9 “When you
come into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you
shall not learn to follow the [a]abominations
of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among
you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass[b] through
the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a
soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11 or
one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up
the dead. (Deuteronomy 18:9-11)
New Age
people often describe themselves as "spiritual, not religious."
Recent psychological research has shown that "New Age practices are
associated with schizotypal personality disorder traits, such as magical
ideals, loose associations, and overly sensitive emotions."
4. Antisocial
type, due to unhealed trauma and shadowy experiences from the original family
It does not
mean that people are not good at socializing or do not like social activities,
but "people who frequently violate social laws and norms, which are
manifested in poor work, bad marriage, alcohol and drug abuse, superficial
emotions, ruthlessness, self-centeredness, dishonesty, deception, playing
tricks on others, impulsivity, aggression and legal problems."
The Bible
calls it "sin," and the Bible has many more descriptions of this kind
of people, such as:
28 And even as
they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave
them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not
fitting; 29 being filled with all
unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, ]maliciousness;
full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters,
haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient
to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy,
unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; (Romans 1:28-31)
“Their throat is an open tomb; With
their tongues they have practiced deceit”; “The poison of asps is under
their lips”;14 “Whose mouth is full
of cursing and bitterness.”
15 “Their feet are swift to shed
blood;16 Destruction and misery are in
their ways;
17 And the way of peace they have not known.”18 “There is
no fear of God before their eyes.” (Romans 3:13-18)
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: [b]adultery, [c]fornication, uncleanness,
lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred,
contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions,
heresies, 21 envy, [d]murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the
like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in
time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the
kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21)
having their
understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the
ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 19 who,
being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all
uncleanness with greediness. (Ephesians 4:18-19)
5.
Narcissistic
Therefore, when
you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites
do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men.
Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. (Matthew 6:2)
for they
loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. (John 12:43)
But know
this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For
men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving,
slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors,
headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God (2 Timothy
3:1-4)
6.
Borderline, because of fear inside
- They fear being abandoned
because they rely on people, not knowing that God will not abandon them
and is the most reliable support.
It is better
to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.9 It
is better to trust in the Lord
Than to put confidence in princes. (Psalm 118:8-9)
Some trust in
chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of
the Lord our God.8 They have bowed down and
fallen; But we have risen and stand upright. (Psalm 20:7-8)
I will not
leave you orphans; I will come to you. (John 14:18)
When my
father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take care of me. (Psalm
27:10)
- Feeling empty
“Woe to the
rebellious children,” says the Lord, “Who take counsel, but not of Me, And
who [a]devise plans,
but not of My Spirit, That they may add sin to sin;2 Who
walk to go down to Egypt, and have not asked My advice, to strengthen
themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!3 Therefore
the strength of Pharaoh Shall be your shame, and trust in the shadow of Egypt Shall
be your humiliation. (Isaiah 30:1-3)
Why do you
gad about so much to change your way? Also you shall be ashamed of
Egypt as you were ashamed of Assyria.37 Indeed you
will go forth from him
With your hands on your head; For the Lord has rejected your
trusted allies, and you will not prosper by them. (Jeremiah 2:36-37)
- Emotionally unstable and
uncontrolled behavior.
Whoever has no
rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down, without walls.
(Proverbs 25:28)
7.
Performance
Passing along the street near her
corner; And he took the path to her house 9 In the
twilight, in the evening, In the black and dark night.10 And
there a woman met him, With the attire of a harlot, and a crafty
heart. 11 She was loud and rebellious, Her
feet would not stay at home.12 At times she was outside,
at times in the open square, lurking at every corner.13 So
she caught him and kissed him; With an impudent face she said to him:14 “I
have peace offerings with me; Today I have paid my vows.15 So
I came out to meet you, diligently to seek your face, and I have found you.16 I
have spread my bed with tapestry, colored coverings of Egyptian linen.
17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and
cinnamon.18 Come, let us take our fill of love until
morning; Let us delight ourselves with love.19 For my
husband is not at home;
He has gone on a long journey;20 He has taken a bag of
money with him, and will come home on the appointed day.”21 With her
enticing speech she caused him to yield, with her flattering lips
she seduced him.(Proverbs 7:8-21)
To deliver
you from the immoral woman, from the seductress who flatters
with her word. (Proverbs 2:16)
A worthless
person, a wicked man, walks with a perverse mouth;13 He
winks with his eyes, he shuffles his feet, he points with his fingers;14 Perversity is in
his heart, he devises evil continually, he sows discord.. (Proverbs 6:12-14)
8. Dependent,
due to inner fear and insecurity
Dependency
reasons:
- We need to rely on people’s
care and do not understand that God’s care is best.
Thus says the
Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose
heart departs from the Lord! (Jeremiah 17:5)
It is better
to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in man.9 It
is better to trust in the Lord
Than to put confidence in princes. (Psalm 118:8-9)
- He is afraid of being
abandoned by others and forgets that God will not abandon him.
When my
father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take care of me.
(Psalm 27:10)
I will not
leave you orphans; I will come to you. (John 14:18)
- We need to rely on the advice
of men and forget that God’s words are the best advice.
There are
many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will
stand. (Proverbs 19:21)
Because the
foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than
men. (1 Corinthians 1:25)
For the Lord gives wisdom; From
His mouth come knowledge and understanding;7 He
stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who
walk uprightly;8 He guards the paths of justice, And preserves
the way of His saints.9 Then you will understand
righteousness and justice, Equity and every good path.10 When
wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul,11 Discretion
will preserve you; Understanding will keep you, (Proverbs 2:6-11)
9. Avoidant
type, because of inferiority and shame
Just like
with solitary personality disorder, if a person is not good at social
activities, it is not a problem, and if they prefer to work alone in a career,
it is absolutely acceptable. So this is a matter of degree and can be
determined by common sense. But if it is too extreme, it may be because:
Reasons for
avoidance:
1. Only
seeing one’s own weakness and clumsiness, forgetting to look to God
In the Bible,
Moses and Paul both suffered from their lack of eloquence, but God helped them:
10 Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my
Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have
spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and [a]slow of tongue.”11 So
the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes
the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I,
the Lord? 12 Now therefore, go, and I will
be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.” (Exodus
4:10-12)
and for me,
that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make
known the mystery of the gospel, (Ephesians 6:19)
2. Because of
fear
There is no
fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment.
But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18)
For God
has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound
mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)
3 I can do all
things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)
10.
Obsessive-compulsive type: the pursuit of perfection is a must
The Bible
says, " Therefore you shall be perfect,
just as your Father in heaven is perfect." (Matthew 5:48) But
according to DSM, this is not a religious or moral issue, so the passage in
Matthew cannot be applied to this type of personality disorder.
- 1. In other aspects, such as
study, work, interpersonal relationships, etc., we should have a
"perfect" mentality. However, people cannot control everything,
and not everything will go as planned. We can only try our best, but
understand that only God can control everything, and the outcome of
everything is in God's hands.
Unless
the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards
the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.. (Psalm 127:1)
I returned and saw under the sun
that—The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the
strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to men of understanding, nor favor to
men of skill;
But time and chance happen to them all. (Ecclesiastes 9:11)
- 2. This shows that the
standards this person sets for himself (his values) may not be in line
with God’s will, and as a result, he has no peace.
I did not withhold from my eyes anything they desired, and I did
not forbid my heart any Whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I
did not withhold my heart from any pleasure, For my heart rejoiced in all my
labor; And this was my [a]reward from
all my labor.
11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done
And on the labor in which I had toiled; And indeed all was vanity
and grasping for the wind. There was no profit under the sun. (Ecclesiastes
2:10-11)
Do not be overly righteous, nor be overly wise: Why should you
destroy yourself? (Ecclesiastes 7:16)
22 For what has
man for all his labor, and for the striving of his heart with which he has
toiled under the sun? 23 For all his days are sorrowful,
and his work burdensome; even in the night his heart takes no rest. This also
is vanity. (Ecclesiastes 2:22-23)
Separate and
break:
In the name
of Jesus Christ, separate and break the following forces that cause bigotry:
Abba Father,
dear Lord Jesus Christ, mighty Holy Spirit, Triune God, today I come before you
to confess and repent for the curse of character bias that has been caused by
sin in me and my family. I admit and want to break and renounce the sins of
emotional bias that I, my family, and my ancestors have committed, as well as
their agreement with the devil's lies, some wrong belief systems, and the
behaviors that have resulted from them.
Behavioral
Breakthrough: The Spirit of Paranoia and Escape
In the name
of Jesus Christ, I come before you to confess and repent on behalf of my family
and ancestors for what we have done:
1. Distrust
and suspicion of others, resulting in inappropriate responses.
2.
Interpreting others’ motives as malicious and untrue, and reacting to others
with hostility.
3. Do not
forgive others for the harm they have done to you, and cannot even forgive
others for the harm they have done unintentionally through words or actions.
Hold grudges against others and have no tolerance or understanding.
4. Lack of
interaction with people around and prefer to stay in one's own small circle.
5. Not caring
about others, being self-centered, and unable to understand others from their
perspective and get along with others.
6.
Emotionally cold and unable to express care and consideration for others in
words or actions.
7. Feeling
uncomfortable and uneasy communicating with others, preferring to be alone.
8. Having
distorted and strange perceptions of people and things, being unable to
correctly understand what others want to express, and making incorrect
responses.
9. Having
social phobia, having irrational thoughts, speaking harshly, and being overly
inquisitive, making it difficult for them to get along with people around them.
10. Violating
the rights of others, disregarding other people’s feelings, and behaving in a
manner that offends others.
11. Violation
of laws and regulations of the community, city, region, or country in which one
is located, or resulting in detention or imprisonment.
12. Behaving
dishonestly, cheating, lying, challenging authority figures, and engaging in
fighting.
13. Having
impure motives for serving, being satisfied with the praise and compliments of
others, and not giving glory to God.
14. Boast
about personal talents and abilities, bask in one’s own success, and be filled
with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.
15. Satisfy
one's own interests and achieve one's own goals at all costs, without
considering the needs of others.
16. Being
jealous of others’ progress and growth, despising the praise others receive,
and thinking that you are better than others but are not recognized.
17. Unable to
see the good qualities of others and unable to give words of encouragement,
praise and affirmation to others.
18.
Emotionally unstable, secretive about one’s own thoughts, and frequently
changing one’s decisions.
19. Have ever
had thoughts or tendencies towards self-harm or suicide, or have already taken
corresponding actions.
20. Indulge
in the desires of the flesh and use sex, drugs, alcohol, and drugs to satisfy
certain needs.
21. Often
want to draw attention to oneself, care too much about one’s own feelings, and
show off one’s abilities and talents.
22. Behavior
is superficial, worldly, and exaggerated.
23. Depend on
people more than trust in God. When encountering problems, you often need
others to take care of you instead of seeking help from God.
24. Feeling
embarrassed to refuse others. Wrong cognition leads to fear of losing support
or offending others.
25. Having an
inner sense of shame, being unwilling to contact or communicate with others,
and being afraid that their true self will be revealed.
26. Not
willing to participate in group activities, mistakenly believes that others
will make fun of him/her, and feels inferior about his/her own words and
actions.
27. Fear of
criticism, rejection, or deeper hurt prevents you from developing deeper
relationships with others.
28. Suffering
from obsessive-compulsive disorder and perfectionism, excessive pursuit of
details and rules, and everything must be perfect.
29.
Inflexible in dealing with people and things, stubborn in behavior, and overly
obsessed with order.
30. Clinging
to old ideas and refusing to accept different opinions will make it impossible
to accept and enter into God’s new season.
In the name
of Jesus Christ, I bind and command all the evil spirits related to these
curses to leave me and go to where the Lord Jesus wants you to go. Never come
back, and never disturb or harm anyone. Abba Father, please send angels to help
me and accomplish all the work I pray for. Thank you, Father, in the name of
Jesus Christ, Amen!
Prayer of
Blessing:
1. In the
name of Jesus Christ, I declare that the blood of Jesus has completely cleansed
and redeemed me. I have completely belonged to Christ. Any bigoted spirit and
the power behind it have no legal right to continue to stay in my body and
life. In the name of Jesus Christ, I receive the abundant life that the Lord
has prepared for me. The fragrance of Jesus will be manifested in my life.
2. Use
Scripture
Peace I leave
with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let
not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. (John 14:27)
Declaration:
In the name
of Jesus Christ, I declare that before the Lord Jesus went to the cross, He had
promised to leave peace for me and my family. He gave us His heavenly peace.
What the Lord gives is not like what the world gives; in the name of Jesus
Christ, I declare that I no longer have sorrow or fear in my heart, because the
Lord Jesus lives in me, and what is in me is greater than anything outside. I
am no longer afraid of losing my reliance on people, but I rely solely on the
Lord Jesus and keep my eyes on Him, because He is my reliance and protection
forever!
3. In the
name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I bless the tree of life that You have planted
in my life. I accept Christ and completely surrender to the life of God the
Father. I have the heart of Christ, the truth of Jesus as my root, and the flow
of the Holy Spirit. I bear the abundant fruit of the Holy Spirit, including
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and
self-control.
4. I declare
that I have received all the fullness of Christ, Christ lives in me, and
everything I think, say, and do follows the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I
already belong completely to Christ.
5. I declare
that I am a tree planted by the stream, whose leaves will not wither and will
bear fruit in due season. All that I do shall prosper! I consecrate my soul,
spirit, and body to You. May all that I ask, think, say, and do glorify Your
name! In the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen!
6. Lord, you
hope that we can plug the gaps in our lives, no longer live in ourselves, but
deeply rooted in your words, rooted in your love, and rooted in the rock of
your truth and love. May your love deeply water our hearts, just like watering
David's garden, so that we can become vessels and channels of your love, so
that we can contain the love, light, faith, and righteousness from you.
7. I declare
that I will live the fruit of the Holy Spirit in my life and compensate those
who have been hurt by my bigotry with my actions, attitudes, words, emotions,
gentleness, and kindness. I ask the Holy Spirit to guide me in a special way
and to protect me from making the same mistakes again.
8. In the
name of Jesus Christ, I declare that I am a child of light, I no longer belong
to darkness, the devil is the father of lies, I have escaped from the power of
lies. My Father is the Father of all lights, I am no longer controlled by the
spirit of lies and the spirit of distortion. I bless myself to put on Jesus
Christ more and be the light and salt in the world.
9. In the
name of Jesus Christ, I declare that I am a child of God. He is my Father. He
protects me and will not harm me.
“For I know
the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and
not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
Every good
and perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of
lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. (James 1:17)
Therefore, I
am full of peace and have enough sense of security. I trust my Abba Father and
my Triune God. I am full of contentment and joy. I will be honest and sincere
before God with an honest and fearful heart.
10. When any
situation comes, I will not escape or evade it, but dare to face it honestly
and rely on my Lord to fight the good fight.
Trust in
the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
(Psalm 37:3)
You will
keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on
You, because he trusts in You. (Isaiah 26:3)
