The Spirit of Fear
Even the
greatest and bravest people in the Bible were attacked by the spirit of fear,
such as Jesus and Elijah. Among the seven tribes of Canaan, the Hittites (fear)
also represent the spirit of fear.
There is no
fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment.
But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18)
The fear of
man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall
be safe. (Proverbs 29:25)
Fear Can
Snare Us
But the
cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers,
idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns
with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. (Revelation 21:8)
Fear and
cowardice will bring destruction
For God
has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound
mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)
The Spirit of
Fear:
It makes
people timid and shrink, and because of lack of security, they surround
themselves with walls.
- It causes people to live under
the control of lies, deception, worry, anxiety, and pressure, and thus
separates them from God, themselves, others, and nature.
- In the Bible, words like
"reverence", "fear", and "dread" are often
translated into different words in Chinese, but in the original text, they
are actually the same word. For example, in the ancient Greek of the New
Testament, " phobos " is used. This word means "
intimidation", " fear", " horror", " respect",
etc.
- Reverence is a healthy fear, a divine fear, a fear that is used by God, and
comes from the spirit of fearing the Lord.
- Fear and terror are unhealthy fears that come from the devil and
the spirit of fear and terror. It is not fear of the God who judges, but fear
of God’s judgment. This kind of fear and terror will either keep us away
from God; or, because of fear of God’s judgment, we will not rely on
grace, but on good deeds to please God, that is, live in legalism and
avoid God’s judgment by disguise.
Main manifestations:
1. Healthy
(Godly) Fear
- The proper fear of God comes
from having met God, knowing God, and having a fear of God.
And he was
afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none
other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!” (Genesis
28:17)
- It is a God-given instinct
that causes people to have defensive and protective fears.
Physiological
instinctive defense, such as fear of snakes, lightning, poisonous spiders, etc.
When danger approaches, fear is a warning, urging us to avoid it and avoid
harm. Its role is to protect us.
2. Unhealthy
(non-divine) fear
- Being out of harmony with God,
feeling ashamed, hiding from God, and not daring to approach God.
- Disharmony with oneself. Not
daring to face the real self, not daring to take normal actions, and
hesitating to move forward; extreme inferiority, self-slander,
self-hatred, self-contempt, self-denial, and even suicide.
- Disharmony with others:
excessive pride, insecurity, competitiveness, jealousy, contention,
bitterness, resentment, distrust, or a desire to please others.
- Disharmony with nature. Dare
not get close to nature, extremely afraid of wind and rain, mountains and
rivers, animals and plants, etc. Suffering from diseases. Heartbroken,
restless, and low immunity.
In
particular, we should base our sense of security on Jesus rather than on
people. This way we do not need to seek people’s affirmation and acceptance. In
God’s love, we will be full of grace, peace, and joy.
Causes of
fear
Because we do
not love God and obey His words, we have fear and terror brought about by
expectations, curses, worries, anxiety, pressure, lies, and deception that are
not in line with God’s will.
1. Idol
worship, fortune-telling, occultism, witchcraft, etc. Because of the curses
brought by divination, fortune-telling, spiritism, etc.; opening the heart to
the power of darkness and accepting related psychological suggestions, lies and
other non-God beliefs.
2. People in
authority, such as parents, kindergarten and school teachers, unit/business
leaders, community/church leaders, etc., whose expectations are not in line
with God’s will.
3. Diseases.
For example: paralysis, cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, severe allergic
diseases, etc.
4. Loss
events, etc. Loss of education, job, loved ones, failed marriage, etc.,
weakness and fall.
5. Disasters
and the difficult environment they cause, and the negative impact they bring.
Poverty, war, plague, famine, etc.
6. Words and
news: Such as words that are not in line with God’s will, negative words, bad
news, evil words, and lies.
7. Special
events and environments. The lack of security caused by special events, such as
fear of heights; fear of crowds, when seeing things densely arranged together,
it will feel painful and unbearable; not daring to speak in public, etc.; dark
environment, fear of the dark, fear of walking at night, fear of ghosts.
8. Animals. Such
as birds and beasts, crows, mice, caterpillars and all soft-bodied animals.
So he said,
“I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked;
and I hid myself.” (Genesis 3:10)
But the
cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers,
idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns
with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)
Do not be
afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, fear him
who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28)
And do not
fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him
who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Galatians 1:10)
For God
has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound
mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)
There is no
fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment.
But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18)
For you
did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received
the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” (Romans
8:15)
15 For we
do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses,
but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without
sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne
of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews
4:15-16)
Cut off and
break (break off for behavioral)
Dear Abba
Father, I come before your throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ. I
confess that in my life and that of my family members, we have avoided God
because we did not know God, did not love God, and did not obey God’s words; we
had many fears and terrors brought about by expectations, curses, worries,
anxieties, pressures, lies, and deceptions that were not in line with God’s
will; we had a lot of cowardice and a lot of timidity.
We have
opened the door to the dark forces of unbelief, abomination, murder, jealousy,
strife, fornication, witchcraft, idolatry, and all lies, allowing them to enter
our lives. We have sinned in these aspects; we have sinned and offended God,
affecting our own body, mind, and spirit, as well as others and the natural
environment.
I confess my
sins to You and I ask You to forgive my sins.
In the name
of Jesus Christ, I disconnect and break the following fear-causing powers:
- The curses brought about by
idolatry, fortune-telling, the occult, witchcraft, etc.;
- Ungodly expectations from
people in authority.
- disease.
- Lost events, etc.
- The negative impact of
disasters and the difficult environment they cause.
- Words and messages that are
not in line with God’s will.
- Fear caused by special events
or circumstances.
- Fear of animals.
In the name
of the Lord Jesus, I rise up to reject and resist the spirit of fear and its
associated evil spirits and dark powers that attempt to enter my life. In the
name of Jesus Christ, I refuse to accept the influence of the dark powers of
fear in our lives that are not in line with God's will because of idolatry,
fortune-telling, occultism, witchcraft, etc. (because of the curse brought by
divination, fortune-telling, spiritism, etc.; opening the door to the dark
powers and accepting related psychological suggestions, lies and other non-God
beliefs). I uproot them in the name of the Lord Jesus. In the name of Jesus
Christ, I rebuke and bind every dark power that is occupying our thoughts, our
ideas and our hearts. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the fire of the
Holy Spirit burns them up.
In the name
of Jesus Christ, I destroy and uproot the evil spirits of fear of people that
bind us in our lives, as well as the fear of our parents, leaders, and other
authority figures. In the name of Jesus Christ, I completely uproot these
spirits of fear and completely uproot and destroy them.
In the name
of Jesus Christ, I release the spirit of fear in myself and my family that
seeks to cause us to fall into illness (such as paralysis, cancer, high blood
pressure, diabetes, severe allergies, etc.) from my body and life.
In the name
of Jesus Christ, I resist any evil loss event that may bring the spirit of fear
into our lives, such as loss of school, loss of job, loss of loved ones, failed
marriage, etc.; the negative impact of disasters and the difficult environment
they cause, such as poverty, war, plague, famine, etc. I destroy the negative
impact of these difficult and difficult environments on us in the name of Jesus
Christ.
In the name
of Jesus Christ, I refuse to accept all negative words and bad news that can
bring the power of fear into our lives, as well as all kinds of evil words and
evil speech. I destroy and eradicate them in the name of Jesus Christ.
Lord, I
confess that we have fears of certain events and situations. Lord, I admit that
we have acrophobia. When we stand in a high place, we feel very scared. Please
help us and heal and release this part of us. I admit that there is a fear that
is densely packed inside us. When we see things that are densely packed
together, we feel very painful and unbearable. Lord, please help us; please
heal and release us and renew us. Lord, I repent for the fear of darkness in
our lives. Lord, please forgive me and pardon my sins. Forgive me for being
afraid of the dark and afraid of walking at night.
Lord, I
repent for the fear of demons in our lives. Lord, You said that You have given
me the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions. Lord, the enemy has been
trampled under our feet, but we are often afraid and timid. Lord, please
forgive us for our fear of demons. Lord, please help us; please come and heal
us, free us, and renew us.
Lord, please
forgive us for being afraid of animals: birds and beasts, crows, mice,
caterpillars, and all soft-bodied animals. Lord, please help us; please come
and heal us, free us, renew us, and help us.
(Or other
aspects: Lord, I admit that I have a phobia of xxx. When I see xxx, I am very
scared. Lord, please heal me and heal these fears and terrors in me.)
In the holy
name of Jesus Christ, I take up the sword of the Holy Spirit and cut off all
the sin connections, curses, and influences brought about by these sins with
the precious blood of Jesus. In the holy name of Jesus Christ, I take up the
sword of the Holy Spirit and cut off all of them; the precious blood draws a
blood line; the cross stands in the middle; I command all fear, dread, and the
dark pursuit power of the enemy associated with them not to cross the Cross.
In the holy
name of Jesus Christ, we also disconnect and close the spiritual channels and
doors that are open to the enemy because of these sins; the precious blood is
poured, cleansed, covered, and smeared, and the cross is inserted on it.
Because of the precious blood shed by Jesus Christ on the cross, all curses and
altars of all enemies are destroyed and broken.
Lord Jesus,
because of the work you have done for us on the cross and the authority you
have as a believer, I now claim your promise: in the name of Jesus Christ, I
break the curse brought by our above sins. In the name of Jesus Christ, we
exercise authority over the evil spirits of fear, commanding the evil spirits of
fear and its associated evil and filthy spirits to leave me and my family
forever and go to where the Lord Jesus wants you to go.
May the Holy
Spirit pour out upon me and my family, nourish us, fill us, renew us, and
change us. Lord Jesus, may we know you and ourselves better in the light of
your words, and under the guidance of your Holy Spirit of truth, may our lives
be built and grown, and live out the authority and power of God's children, and
live out the beautiful life of the Lord Jesus Christ, to glorify your own name.
In the holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen!
Proclamation
of Blessing
For if
when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His
Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
(Romans 5:10)
You are of
God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is
greater than he who is in the world.. (1 John 4:4)
28 And do not
fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him
who is able to destroy both soul and body in [a]hell. 29 Are
not two sparrows sold for a [b]copper coin?
And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. 30 But
the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Do
not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. (Matthew
10:28-31)
For do I
now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still
pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
(Hebrews
4:15-16)
Whoever
confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. (1
John 4:15)
37 Yet in all
these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For
I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities
nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor
height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us
from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:37-39)
And they
overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their
testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. (Revelation
12:11)
In the name
of Jesus Christ, I declare that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. In
the name of Jesus Christ, the fire of the Lord consumes the influence of events
that bring the power of fear into my life.
In the name
of Jesus Christ, I declare that the precious blood of the Lord Jesus has been
thickly smeared, covered, and cleansed on every fear and timidity within us.
Thank you, Lord Jesus Christ, for bearing our sins, crimes, transgressions, and
curses, and reconciling us to God. Thank you and praise the Lord!
Lord, you are
the victorious King. You are in us, greater than those in the world. We belong
to you. Thank you for helping us to overcome these fears and the dark enemy
powers associated with them. In the name of Jesus Christ, I no longer agree
with the accusations and control of the powers of darkness and the lies behind
them. We only agree with Jesus, and we only accept the voice from the Lord
Jesus. Thank you for giving us a strong, loving, and cautious heart; You are
our shield; You are our protection.
Lord, thank
you and praise you. We have received your great grace. Lord, thank you for
choosing us before the creation of the world. Lord, how blessed we are to have
a share in your kingdom. Thank you and praise the Lord. Lord, you are the
source of our strength, you are our hope of glory, you are the peace and joy
within us. In your love we are no longer afraid; we are willing to face our
true selves and reconcile with ourselves.
Lord, please
grant us the heavenly wisdom, intelligence, strategy, power, and knowledge, and
may your seven spirits walk among us. Lord, please grant us a heart that fears
you, so that what we think, say, and do may be pleasing to you, and that every
step we take may be in accordance with your will, so that we may be renewed and
changed, and reconciled with others; by receiving your blessing, we can also
become a blessing to others.
Lord, thank
you for teaching us to fight every moment and training us to use our fingers to
fight. Lord, thank you for calling us to be your bride warriors in the last
days. Thank you for training us to be a member of the army of Jehovah, training
us to be like a mighty army with banners. Thank you for giving us the wonderful
promises, thank you for helping and leading us every step of victory. Lord,
thank you for allowing us to participate in the service and battle of your
kingdom; to fight and win through the Lord Jesus Christ and to inherit the
land. Lord, thank you for the precious crown you have reserved for us. Thank
you and praise the Lord!
All praise,
glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, honor, power and might shall be given to our God
forever and ever. This thanksgiving prayer is in the victorious name of the
Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
