Spirit of slumber
Plains and flatness symbolize smoothness and comfort, so evil spirits make people covet comfort and enjoyment, fall asleep spiritually, and lose their vigilance.
It manifests as:
Wisdom perishes, and cleverness is hidden; right and wrong are confused; one speaks one thing and thinks another, and acts in false piety; one’s actions are dark, and one’s heart is confused; one flees and hides, and lies down and sleeps; one does not watch, does not pray, and has entered into temptation.
Causes of Spirit of slumber:
1. The heart is hardened, unable to hear God’s voice, and unaware of God’s deeds.
Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice,8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness. (Hebrews 3:7-8)
Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God. (Hebrews 3:12)
2. Negative complaints against God in the heart
How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?
2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me? (Psalm 13:1-2)
3. Secularization and seeking comfort
“Therefore hear this now, you who are given to pleasures, Who dwell securely, Who say in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one else besides me; I shall not sit as a widow, Nor shall I know the loss of children’; (Isaiah 47:8)
Pause and wonder! Blind yourselves and be blind! They are drunk, but not with wine; They stagger, but not with intoxicating drink. (Isaiah 29:9)
For the turning away of the simple will slay them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them. (Proverbs 1:32)
For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (Romans 8:6)
4. Ignoring warnings
See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven (Hebrews 12:25)
Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. (1 Corinthians 10:11)
5. Your heart is not close to God
She has not obeyed His voice, She has not received correction; She has not trusted in the Lord, She has not drawn near to her God. (Zephaniah 3:2)
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. (James 4:8)
6. Ignoring Discipline and Not Repenting
My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction;12 For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights. (Proverbs 3:11-12)
Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. (Revelation 2:5)
7. Fear of circumstances and loss of hope
And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. (1 Kings 19:3)
if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister. (Colossians 1:23)
8. Lack of pursuit and lack of direction
12 Not that I have already attained,[a] or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have [b]apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:12-14)
Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus, I fight: not as one who beats the air. (1 Corinthians 9:26)
Brethren, I do not count myself to have [a]apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, (Philippians 3:13)
Prayer to cut off the spirit of slumber:
Dear Abba Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, Triune God, I come before you and ask you to illuminate me with your Spirit so that I can see clearly that my life has drifted further and further away from you, and therefore I cannot see the truth and hope, nor can I feel love. Lord, I do not want to fall into darkness and deception, I do not want to live in a situation where I cannot distinguish between black and white, and where things are reversed.
Lord, I beg you to help my heart return to you. Lord, please cover and cleanse my whole heart and my whole being with your precious blood, cleanse my heart and my mouth, so that I can worship you and rely on you with unity of heart and mouth, and consistency inside and outside. Lord, you are my only God, you are the Lord of my life. Lord, please help me to regain vitality, so that I can have a lively spirit to obey you, worship and praise you.
Lord, please help me to break free from the control of the spirit of slumber, so that I can meet you more, experience you more, and bear witness to your power and glory more in this last days. Lord, because you are the Lord who created the universe and all things, please open our spiritual five senses so that I can understand the mysteries of the last days. Lord, please give me revelation, open me up, let me experience more spiritual seeing and hearing, so that my spiritual man can obey the guidance of the Holy Spirit to follow you and respond to your guidance and will.
Dear Abba Father, thank you and praise You for creating me and choosing me. Thank You for leading and calling me. Thank You for making me the prince/princess of Your glorious kingdom of heaven. Thank You for the extremely precious eternal inheritance You have reserved for me. Father, in these the last days, in this season when great revival is approaching, please help us remove spiritual deception, disturbance and attack, and help my spirit man wake up.
Lord, I was once ignorant, our spiritual man was asleep, we were far away from You, and even separated from You. Lord, forgive me for having my eyes bound by materialism, prosperity, and enjoyment of this world, causing my soul and body to be entangled in all kinds of things in life, big and small, making me busy and rushing around, but neglecting the time to be close to You. Lord, please forgive me; please let me not look at my own weakness, and not take my eyes off You like Peter, but see myself walking on the water.
Lord, I am strong in whatever I am weak in, because You are in me. Lord, when I am weak and at the bottom of my spiritual life, please draw me to You and draw heavenly strength from You, so that even if I fall down due to weakness, I can stand up quickly by relying on You.
Dear Lord Jesus, I also place every brother and sister around me in Your hands, asking You to watch over and lead them. Lord, I ask You to give strength to the weak ones to strengthen them; Lord, I ask You to personally lift up those who have fallen and help them stand up again; Lord, I ask You to draw those who have strayed away back to You.
Let each of your children stand up together, and retake the authority and power you have given us, to be the light and salt in this dark world. Lord, let your character and glory be manifested in each of us, and help us to illuminate everyone around us wherever we go, and to be witnesses of your glory. Thank you and praise the Lord.
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you that when I meditate on Your words, you allow me to see specifically that when You were resurrected, the tombs were opened, and the saints who had been sleeping in You resurrected. This allowed me to see the power of Your resurrection, which can awaken the saints sleeping in the tombs, so that they can wake up and come out of the tombs with You.
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for allowing me to understand that the tomb that has blinded and controlled the church will be opened, and the once lifeless and lifeless situation will be broken by your great power. Lord, you will revive your church again, and revive the spirits of the brothers and sisters in the church once again, and walk out of the tomb with you, so that they will no longer be bound, controlled and blinded by the temptations of this world, and thus become weak and even fall.
Lord, you will remove the dormant spirits within the members of Christ, thereby restoring every brother and sister's original longing for you, and thereby freeing them from the lukewarm situation like that of the Laodicean church. The spiritual man will awaken and resurrect, and walk into the spiritual abundance that you have prepared for us. Thank and praise the Lord.
I rebuke you in the name of Jesus Christ, and the spirit of slumber leaves me and my family, my group, and my church. In the name of Jesus Christ, all the blindness, dullness, and lack of vigilance must leave and I ask for the living and fresh supply of the Holy Spirit into us daily.
In the name of Jesus Christ, release your thirst for God’s Word, build a stable personal altar, and keep the fire on the altar burning.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I declare that I am no longer lukewarm, nor will my love grow cold or shrink back because of lawless deeds, causing my spiritual life to go downhill step by step. I break the lukewarmness and the coldness and shrinking back.
Behavioral Breakthrough: The Spirit of Slumber
In the name of Jesus Christ, we confess and repent for the sins we have committed:
1. Regardless of whether you have received words and information from God through your own prayers, suggestions from fellow Christians, or prophecies from God’s servants, you ignore them and continue to act according to your own ideas.
2. Not pursuing God seriously, not practicing listening to God’s voice, not being grateful for God’s deeds, and not counting on God’s grace.
3. Complaining about the people and things around us in daily life, not knowing how to rely on God, but instead blaming God for not removing or changing the circumstances.
4. When we cannot hear God’s voice, we misunderstand God and think that God no longer loves us.
5. When encountering unpleasant things and situations, we complain, blame others and complain about God.
6. Limit God and urge Him to fulfill your prayers at the time and in the way you expect.
7. Not understanding the truth, mixing with the world, and not setting oneself apart as holy.
8. They are no different from the Gentiles in celebrating secular culture or festivals that do not belong to God and following the world’s festivals and customs, such as kowtowing, worshiping idols and other secular ways of celebration.
9. Getting drunk, gambling, going to unclean places, and acting according to the desires of the flesh.
10. Coveting a comfortable life, not following God’s guidance to enter a new season and flow, still staying in the past anointing and unwilling to be upgraded, refusing to grow in your spiritual life.
11. When God reminds and warns us in various ways, such as visions and dreams, we do not pray seriously and pay attention to His words, but continue to do as we please.
12. Not seriously practicing to draw close to and wait on God, not seeking God, and handling everything in the way and method that one likes.
13. Not understanding God’s perfect attributes, and despising God’s attributes of just and righteous judgment; not taking God’s discipline seriously, and not dealing with it in a timely manner.
14. When repenting of sin, one does not have a firm determination to renounce it, does not seek the help of the Holy Spirit to reveal sin and live a life of repentance, and instead commits the same sin repeatedly.
15. When encountering difficult situations, instead of seeking God, they are frightened by them, complain, become frustrated, and do not focus on God, which greatly reduces their faith.
16. Complaining and feeling depressed about the general environment around us in the last days, such as the pandemic, economic downturn, and unemployment, leading to a sense of failure, losing hope in the Lord’s return, and having no real joy and peace in our hearts.
17. Not knowing the group to which they are committed, not actively seeking their own destiny, and not understanding God’s will for them.
18. Not waking up to pray, not pursuing God’s power and glory, and just living one day at a time.
In the holy name of Jesus Christ, I declare that they are invalid and can no longer affect me and my descendants; in the holy name of Jesus Christ, I cancel the work of all cursed spirits, and I have been freed from the curse and entered the blessing.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I bind and command all the evil spirits related to these curses to leave me and go to where the Lord Jesus wants you to go. Never come back, and never disturb or harm anyone. Abba Father, please send angels to help me and accomplish all the work I pray for. Thank you, Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
Declaration and Prayer of Blessing:
I bless myself to be a bride with a torch, burning with love for the Lord Jesus Christ, releasing a blazing and loyal love, restoring the intimate relationship in the Garden of Eden, with a heart always on fire, loving God and others, serving God, igniting myself and others. All the virgins love You.
I declare that I must draw water from the Lord, the source of living water, every day with joy. I will no longer be satisfied with the status quo, with one bucket of water not enough and half a bucket of water sloshing around. I want my life to grow and my spiritual life to break through. I will never be in this situation again. I wish I were a warrior who could brave the wind and waves, cut through the thorns, and respond to God's call. Amen!
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Abba Heavenly Father, thank you. Your thoughts are thoughts of peace, not thoughts of disaster. Your plans are plans of blessing, not wills of curse and punishment. You have chosen me in Jesus Christ before the creation of the world, and have given me every spiritual blessing in heaven. You have also abundantly bestowed every blessing and grace upon me with all your wisdom and understanding.
Bless the tree of life that you have planted in my life. I accept the grace of complete forgiveness from the cross of Christ, remove all offenses, have the heart of Christ, and the eyes of Christ. With the truth and life of Jesus as the root, and filled with the flow of the Holy Spirit, I will bear the abundant fruits of the Holy Spirit, including love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Lord Jesus! Thank you for giving me your words. I choose to rely on your great power and choose the abundant life you have given me. I refuse to let the enemy take away the fruit of my joy. Please strengthen my heart and help me live in your joy and grace every moment.
I choose to listen to, accept, and desire Your ways, so that my heart can be free, and I can obtain the peace and joy from You, so that I can rest in You. I believe in the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and I pray, ask, and thank you for everything. I follow Your guidance and move forward in God's way. Please help me maintain the clean heart and upright spirit in You, and follow You wholeheartedly. I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
I declare that I receive all the fullness of Christ, Christ lives in me, and everything I think, say, and do follows the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I have completely belonged to Christ. I declare that I am a tree planted by the stream, whose leaves will not wither and will bear fruit in due season. All that I do will prosper! I sanctify my soul, spirit, and body for You. May all that I ask, think, say, and do glorify Your name! In the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen!
